Pooch Plunge at Henry Moses Aquatic Center: Hurry up and sign up to purify your small dog in the waters of Henry Moses Aquatic Center before all of the registration slots are filled. Registration for dogs under 25 pounds are still open at rentonwa.gov/register under the keyword “pooch.” Located at 1719 Maple Valley Hwy. in Renton.

Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park: From 3-7 p.m., enjoy the fruits, vegetables, local wares and more from local vendors. Park in the City Center Parking Garage on 2nd Street. The farmers market runs every Tuesday at the same time until Sept. 24.
The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 Business Meeting: The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall, 3224 NE 12th Street, in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower. All veterans welcome. Most vets eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans organization and the prime driver of the original G.I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans and has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans, and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth.

SuperHero 5K at Renton Community Center: Leap tall buildings in a single bound at 6 p.m. for the city’s annual 5K run/walk. Choose your superhero and join in for this family-friendly outdoor event. Check-in at 5 p.m. The event includes as pre-race warmup at 5:50 p.m., a photo booth, lawn games, snacks and more. $30 for 18 and over adult heroes, $20 for 17 and under sidekicks. Sept. 14
Recycling Event at Renton Technical College: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., drop off your mattresses, box springs, cardboard, polystyrene foam and tires for proper recycling and disposal. The following items will be accepted: foam packing peanuts and bubble wrap (bagged packing peanuts accepted), clean white blocks (Look for #6 or EPS inside the recycle symbol); documents for shredding: Bring up to 5 Boxes (banker box size 12”x15”x10”) or equivalent in bags (Paper, blueprints, mail, photographs, and file folders accepted, no need to remove staples, paper clips or rubber bands), no binders, plastics or discs, no ID badges or driver’s licenses, no cardboard or hard cover books. At each event non-perishable food donations will be accepted to help the food bank.

Project Be Free presents Family Resource Night at VFW Post 1263: From 3-7 p.m., get connected with non-profits and organizations throughout Renton and South King County that provide counseling, legal support, support groups, youth mentorship and more. Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee, camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 Northeast 12th Street).

Free Museum Day at the Renton History Museum: Enjoy the wonders of the past with free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free museum days are every first Wednesday and third Saturday of each month. The Renton Reporter Read-All-About-It at Berliner Pub: The Renton Reporter invites you to join the paper from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for some informal conversation, beer, food and a local guest speaker. You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work and their recent stories, learn about how to support local journalism, and just talk about all things Renton. Located at 221 Main Avenue South in Renton, Berliner Pub is an all-ages venue before 10 p.m.
Sept. 28
Renton Downtown Fall Clean at Gateway Park: From 9 to 11 a.m., join the Renton Downtown Partnership and help pick up litter and make downtown beautiful. All cleaning supplies like gloves, vests, trash bags and grabbers will be provided, as well as access to bathrooms and water. Volunteers will be emailed check-in information and can check-in at 8:50 a.m. the day of the clean-up. To register as a volunteer, email director@rentondowntown.com to learn more.
Food Truck Festival & Community Celebrations: Good Neighbor Day at Benson Hill Elementary! The final 2024 Community Celebrations event, this free all-ages celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include lunch, face painting, lawn games, live music and more. During the the celebration, enjoy “flavors without borders” with a convoy of international food trucks at the ready. Located at 18556 116th Avenue Southeast.

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together.
