Renton’s Evergreen City Ballet is excited to bring to life a beloved holiday classic with a unique twist that’s sure to delight audiences.
Choreographed by Evergreen City Ballet’s talented founding father, Wade Walthall, this rendition of The Nutcracker offers familiar scenes and beloved characters set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, paired with original choreography that celebrates the beauty of classical ballet with a modern twist.
“This is our first performance since opening our new location right in the heart of downtown Renton, and our first live audience performance with fewer covid restrictions.” says Marte Osiris Madera, Interim Artistic Director for Renton’s premiere ballet school. “We are very excited to welcome the local community back into the theater and showcase the hard work and dedication of our students.”
Evergreen City Ballet has supported young dancers and instilled a love for ballet in the Renton community for 28 years. Their new location can accommodate more aspiring dancers, while offering an inspirational and beautiful space to practice their unique gifts and talents.
The school is always welcoming new students and offers a variety of different programs, a free trial class and financial aid services to help make classes more accessible for the wider community.
“We wanted to ensure this season’s performance is accessible for everyone in the community who wants to attend,” says Nathan Cook, Evergreen City Ballet’s School Principal. “We’ll be performing at two different locations in the Renton area and have intentionally kept ticket prices for both locations as low as we could, with the hopes of welcoming as many people from the Renton community as possible.”
Tickets – $35 for adults, $25 for seniors age 60+ and $15 for children aged 18 and younger – are available for purchase online at Wade Walthall’s The Nutcracker – etix.com.
Those hoping to attend Evergreen City Ballet’s holiday season performance have two options for where to catch The Nutcracker. The ballet company performs at the Auburn Performing Arts Center from Dec. 9 to 11 and the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center from Dec. 16 to 18.
