20-year-old man injured critically when hit crossing SR 900 in Skyway

A 20-year-old male was in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after being struck in the 13400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Skyway Friday night at 7:40 p.m.

According to witnesses, two males got off a Metro bus and crossed behind the bus. They were walking across the five-lane road when the 20-year-old male was struck by an Oldsmobile, according to Dave Nelson, a spokesman for the King County Fire District 20 in Skyway/West Hill.

It’s not known how fast the Oldsmobile was going, but the posted speed limit is 50 mph. The Oldsmobile has severe damage to its windshield and hood from the impact, according to Nelson.

The driver of the Oldsmobile was arrested for suspicion of DUI, according to Nelson. Due to federal privacy laws, additional information on the 20-year-old is unavailable.

The Washington State Patrol closed Martin Luther King Jr. Way (SR 900) between 68 Avenue South and South 135th Street to complete the investigation.
