2013 candidate filing period closes Friday

Three city council seats, the municipal court judge and two Renton School District Board of Director seats will be on this fall's ballot.

There will be three Renton City Council seats up for election this November, but Friday is your last day to file if you’re looking to win one of them.

Zwicker announced earlier this year that he is not running for re-election, making his an open seat.

Both Briere and Corman have filed with King County Elections their intention to run for re-election. So far there are no other officially filed candidates for either seat.

Filing for Zwicker’s seat are restauranteur Armondo Pavone and local activist Stuart Avery.

The filing deadline is 4:30 p.m. Friday. Candidates interested in filing for election can click here.

Renton city council members are paid $950 per month, or $11,400 per year.

Also up for re-election this year is municipal court judge Terry Jurado. So far, Jurado has filed for re-election, but has no challengers.

Two seats on the Renton School District Board of Directors will also be on the ballot this fall.

Position No. 2, presently held by Albert Talley, Sr., and position No. 5, presently held by Pam Tiel will be up for election.

As of Thursday, Tiel filed for re-election, but Talley had not.
