A service for Dr. Richard Lomas is Saturday in Bellevue

Richard Wilson Lomas, ophthalmologist, amateur pilot and innovator in surgical vision correction, died of a heart attack on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. He was 79.
Lomas launched his 40-year ophthalmological practice in the Seattle area in 1962 at Lomas Eye Care and Surgery Center in Renton. He specialized in  technologies such as LASIK and other refractive eye surgery, restoring sight and enabling tens of thousands of patients to abandon glasses and contact lenses.
Lomas was born in Waterville, Maine. He earned a bachelor’s degree from  College of Wooster and completed training at Case Western Reserve Medical School in Cleveland.
The family is holding a celebration of life at 1 pm on Saturday (March 5) at Bellevue First Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellevue Way N.E., Bellevue.
