The public is invited to join a group of elected officials and transportation-agency representatives from the length of the Interstate 405/State Route 167 corridor when they gather Thursday for a quarterly meeting to discuss and coordinate future transportation improvements across the region.
The meeting is 1 to 3 p.m. at the Kent Commons Community Center, 525 Fourth Ave. N.
The public is invited to comment. Minutes and meeting materials will be posted to the WSDOT Eastside Corridor website.
At the meeting, Sound Transit representatives will speak about the next steps for the I-405 Bus Rapid Transit system, scheduled to open in 2024. King County representatives will speak about efforts to coordinate on an assortment of regional transportation construction projects that will get underway in the next several years.
Washington State Department of Transportation representatives will present an update about progress on the I-405 Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes project, a multi-modal project that includes transit, highway, and bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure. They will also review early performance data for the I-405 northbound peak-use shoulder lane, which opened in April 2017 and has led to improvements in traffic.
