April Youth of the Month

The Rotary Club of Renton has recognized three high school students as April Youth of the Month.

The Rotary Club of Renton has recognized three high school students as April Youth of the Month.

  • Tiana Ellison is Hazen High School senior with a 3.9 grade point average.

    She has been a member of National Honor Society, Friends of Rachel, Link Crew, A-Team, student government, Girls’ Club co-president, Highlander Club co-president, track, varsity soccer (captain), Newport Soccer Club and St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church.

    She received Scholar Athlete Award, varsity sports letters, Player of the Week Award and has been on the honor roll.

    She works part-time at Old Navy as a sales associate, and plans to attend a four year university to prepare for a career in social science.

  • Hoang (Jammy) Phan is a Lindbergh High School senior with a 3.7 GPA.

    He has been a member of Key Club, Chess Club, Club Xiangqi (online chess organization) and an office with Skills USA in Washington.

    He’s received a National Junior Honor Society award, second place at a regional Skills USA competition, Key Club certificate of achievement and Washington Award for Vocational Excellence.

    Phan volunteers with Renton Kiwanis. He plans to attend a four year university to study business and law. He hopes to someday start his own company.

  • Ada Chan is a Renton High School senior with a 3.9 GPA.

    She has been involved in ASB, orchestra, Northwest Chinese School and was swim-team captain.

    She has been awarded Masonic Outstanding Junior Award, Incredible Indian Award in math and physical education, Outstanding Scholar Award in science, Rensselaer Medal Award, American Mathematics Contest winner.

    Chan volunteers with the Chinese Information and Service Center. She plans to attend the University of Washington.

  • After being selected by counselors, a selection committee of Rotary members reviews applications and interviews students to identify those who will be selected as Youth of the Month. The award is given to students who possess leadership abilities, maintain a good grade point average, participate in school activities and volunteer in their community.
