Armondo Pavone, owner of Armondo’s in downtown Renton, announced this weekend that he will close his restaurant, following a final day on Father’s Day, June 19. Here is the announcement from Armondo and his wife Angela.

It’s hard to believe that Armondo’s recently celebrated its 25th anniversary on May 2nd.  It almost seems like yesterday we opened our little pizza place in Downtown Renton.  The hours were long and the work was challenging, but the opportunity to be part of the community and to serve so many of you was worth every effort. 

Our city continued to grow and develop as well over the years.  This growth, combined with the present state of the economy has forced me to carefully examine Armondo’s and its financial viability.  I have come to the difficult conclusion that Armondo’s has run its course.  We have enjoyed 25 wonderful years and I believe it is best for us to close.  Our last day of operation will be Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19th.  I hope you will have the opportunity in our last week to pay us a final visit.

I am so grateful to all of you for the opportunity to have served you over the years.  It is always fun to see so many familiar faces come through the door.  I have had the opportunity to see young couples on their first date at Armondo’s come back with their children.  I have seen those children grow and have their first date in the same restaurant as their parents.  Those experiences and so many others are truly special to me and I am honored to have touched a small part of your lives.

Fortunately, I don’t have to say, “Goodbye.”  Melrose Grill, our sister restaurant right across the street will continue to operate as normal.  You will find me there regularly as I transition my time and energy to that operation.  In addition, I am looking forward to new and exciting opportunities to come in the Armondo’s restaurant space.  I will keep you posted as time progresses.
