Driving under the influence: At 12:16 a.m. March 24 in the 400 block of Williams Avenue South, officers investigated a domestic disturbance where the suspect had left the scene. Another officer noticed the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a stop. The suspect exited his car, and the officer smelled a strong odor of liquor coming from his breath. The officer learned he had also been involved in a hit-and-run collision minutes earlier. A criminal history check showed the suspect had three prior DUI convictions and was required to have an ignition interlock, which was not present in his car. He was booked into jail on second-degree domestic violence assault, DUI, hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock as required.
Banned from the park: At 4:19 p.m. March 27 under the Wells Avenue Bridge, an officer observed a subject consuming illegal drugs. After watching the subject, the officer contacted the individual. He was cited and released with a trespass from city parks for the next year.
Fight at the ATM: At 2:34 p.m. March 27 in the 600 block of South Grady Way, an officer responded to a fight in the parking lot. The officer learned a man and woman were waiting in line for the ATM when another male yelled from his vehicle that he was in line before them and waiting in his car. When it was his turn, he exited the vehicle and got into a verbal argument with the female. The male stepped in, and that was when the fight started. The man from the car struck the man standing in line. He was arrested for fourth-degree assault and booked into jail.
Brandishing a handgun: At 5:31 p.m. March 28 at Benson Drive South and South 27th Place, officers responded to a threat with a weapon call. The victim stated he had been involved in a road rage incident when the other driver pointed a black handgun at him. He was able to provide a description of the car and a partial license plate. Officers located the other vehicle and stopped it. The driver agreed to a search of his vehicle, where officers located a loaded handgun. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.
Slow car stopped for DUI: At 11:53 p.m. March 28 in the 100 block of South 3rd Street, an officer was traveling behind a vehicle when she noticed the car moving 10-15 mph below the speed limit. The driver stopped well short of the stop line and made an illegal turn. When pulled over, the driver could not use her cellphone without dropping it. She was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of DUI.
