Power was out to about 1,000 customers on Talbot Hill – including Talbot Hill Elementary School – for much of the day Thursday after a car hit a power pole at about 9:30 a.m., according to Puget Sound Energy.
Power was expected to be restored at around 6:30 p.m., after the day-long repairs, according to a PSE spokeswoman. The pole has extensive wiring, which required “some extra care” to bring all the customers back on line, she said.
The outage darkened the traffic signal at Talbot Road South and South 21st Street, turning the intersection into a four-way stop, including during the busy afternoon commute.
The vehicle hit the pole in the 3300 block of Talbot Road South, a few blocks north of Valley Medical Center.
