A woman had her fanny pack stolen on Feb. 22 at the Fred Meyer on 108th Avenue Southeast.
The victim said it was stolen while she was wearing it. The pack contained two of her house keys, the key of her Toyota Prius, and her wallet that contained her four credit cards and $45 cash.
Loss prevention employees of Fred Meyer was able to show police surveillance footage of the snatch occurring. The male suspect was seen following the victim around for a few minutes, sometimes standing directly behind her and peering over her shoulder as she shopped. After the snatch, he secured the pack around his waist and exited the store few minutes later. The suspect is approximately 35-40 years old, about six feet tall, 200-230 pounds with a bald head.
The suspect’s identity is unknown at this time.
Caught meth-handed: Police was dispatched on Feb. 22 to the Fred Meyer on Renton Center Way regarding a report of shoplifting.
A male suspect was caught stealing a red pair of Vans shoes. The officer placed the suspect under arrest for third-degree theft. After reading him his Miranda Rights, the officer saw a glass pipe, approximately four inches long. Inside the pipe was what looked like crystal methamphetamine.
The officer asked the suspect what it was, to which he replied “meth.”
The suspect was transported to SCORE jail on felony investigation of VUCSA.
Dog attack: A female staff member of Eastside Veterinary Hospital on Northeast 44th Street was attacked by a dog on Feb. 21. The dog was impounded and transported to the veterinary hospital in January, and was being held until an opening came up in a local rescue.
The staff member was working at an open exercise area, when the dog jumped and scratched its kennel door until it unlocked. It then ran toward another dog and started violently attacking it. The victim was bitten while she and two other staff members tried to restrain the attacking dog. The injured dog received multiple wounds around its head and neck area and had a puncture on his left front food. The other dog was later transported to the city kennel.
Rooftop burglary: Police were called on Feb. 21 to Blue Dog Dance on 166th Avenue Southeast regarding reports about a burglary.
According to the reporting party, a burglar had entered the building sometime between Feb. 19 to 21 when the building was unoccupied. While nothing was reported stolen, police were able to determine that someone entered the building through the roof near the restroom area.
There was damage to the ceiling fixtures and ceiling tiles. There were smudged finger prints on those areas, and the suspect unsuccessfully attempted to wipe them away. There was also a shoe print on a chair located in the restroom area. The print was a partial print and police weren’t able to determine the exact size or type of shoe.
The total estimated damage cost is $800.
There have been previous cases where suspects tried to enter the building in similar methods. There is no suspect information at the time.
