Renton Technical College’s Board of Trustees is holding two closed meetings this week, Tuesday and Thursday, to interview candidates for interim president of the college.
“It is a pretty quick turnaround process,” said college spokesperson Kathy Chavers, who couldn’t say when the board hoped to select a candidate. “It depends on what comes out of the meetings.”
The interviews are the first step in moving on from the dramatic firing of former RTC president Don Bressler, in a 3-1 vote Aug. 11 that outraged local political, community and business leaders.
The board would not release the names of the five candidates it’s interviewing for the roughly 10-month position.
Carol Werner, the college’s vice president for finance and administration, is serving as acting president until the interim leader is named.
The public is allowed to watch the opening and closing of the meetings, but the actual interviews and discussion will be held in an executive session.
The meetings are scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:15 p.m. Thursday in the Roberts Campus Center board room, I-202, 3000 N.E. 4th St.
