Council set to adopt budget

The Renton City Council will formally adopt the city’s 2010 budget at its meeting Monday night.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. in council chambers, seventh floor, City Hall, 1055 S. Grady Way.

The council on Monday, acting as the Committee of the Whole, approved the budget proposal unanimously.

The budget totals about $212.4 million, with nearly $98 million of that going to the city’s General Fund that pays for daily city operations.

The city is laying off about three dozen workers to help balance the budget. The recession has reduced sales and property tax revenue.
