The Renton Salvation Army will provide Thanksgiving and holiday meal assistance to those in need.
On Tuesday, Nov. 23, the organization will distribute all the ingredients to make a Thanksgiving meal to families from their food bank at 206 S. Tobin St. in Renton. Those wishing to receive assistance are asked to register in person at the food bank by Thursday, Nov. 18.
To register, participants need to present their identification, proof they live in the 98178 service area (a water bill and copy of a residential lease). If they have children, proof is also needed in the form of a medical coupon or a Social Security card for the children.
The Salvation Army will send out letters to those requesting assistance with the time they can come pick up their dinner supplies. They expect to serve 50 families every 30 minutes on the Nov. 23. Families will receive a Safeway gift card to purchase a turkey and also the rest of their meal ingredients from the food bank warehouse.
After Thanksgiving, registration will resume for a Christmas dinner up until the Dec. 11 cut off.
