Dimitri Woods of Renton/Skyway Boys & Girls Club is one of 11 King County teens competing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County’s 2009 Youth of the Year at a luncheon Tuesday.
Woods is one of 11 King County teens competing for the award, 12 a.m.-2 p.m. at Benaroya Hall Tuesday.
The teens were chosen by their clubs for their dedication to service, academic commitment, strength of character and life goals.
Each teen will tell his or her story before a panel of judges and a crowd of 350. Woods and his 10 competitors will each receive a $500 education scholarship. The Youth of the Year will receive a $2,500 education scholarship and advance to the state level. The state winner will advance to the regionals and that winner to nationals. The national winner will be installed in an Oval Office ceremony with President Obama in the fall
