Traffic on Maple Valley Highway was delayed for hours last night on Dec. 2 after a dump truck collided with several vehicles including a metro bus, according to reports from the Renton Police Department.
Police reported via Twitter that the dump truck was traveling towards Maple Valley Highway on 140th Way SE when the truck collided with two vehicles before hitting a metro bus that then collided with other vehicles.
According to a tweet from the Renton Police Department, Eastbound traffic on Maple Valley Highway from I-405 was closed off as well as Westbound traffic from 149th Ave SE and traffic from Fairwood on 140th Way SE was closed off by the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The road closures, which lasted several hours, were reportedly due to the multitude of vehicles involved in the accident as well as debris on the road including the dump truck’s lost load.
The Renton Fire PIO Twitter account reported that 6 people were transported to the hospital as a result of the collision, including one that was in “serious condition.”
The cause of the accident is still being investigated as authorities have yet to announce their findings.
