Incumbents Tana Senn and My-Linh T. Thai lead the way in a pair of Legislative District 41 general election races, according to King County Elections’ Nov. 8 initial results.

In the Representative Position No. 1 race, Senn (D) has amassed 75.65% of the vote (27,525 votes) while Mike Nykreim (Election Integrity Party) has 23.97% (8,721 votes).

Senn offered her reaction to the early results: “I’m thankful to the voters who again put their trust in me to carry their voices, hopes and concerns to Olympia. Across the state, Washington voters showed their strong support for Democratic values and results. I must say, I’m also extremely heartened that voters across the country overwhelmingly chose Democracy over MAGAtocracy.”

Last month in a Reporter story, Senn described her role as a representative and how she supports and strengthens the district in that position, “I take representing five cities (and a town) and five school districts seriously. It is important to bring their challenges, needs and perspectives forward, which I do as a member of the Local Government Committee.”

Nykreim told the Reporter of some district improvements he feels could be made: “Protecting the neighborhoods from crime, traffic and dense growth, also supporting quality education in cost effective infrastructure.”

The race for Representative Position No. 2 shows Thai (D) ahead with 68.39% (25,728 votes) and Al Rosenthal (R) following with 31.48% (11,843 votes).

Thai told the Reporter last month that her life philosophy — which she can apply to district matters — is, “‘Love is not what you say, love is what you do.’ I care deeply about the well-being of people and the state of humanity. I am grateful for an opportunity to affect policies that would lead to a thriving community where people who reside in feel belonged and happy.”

Rosenthal added that his life philosophy, “Has been to work hard, live below my financial means and invest for the future. This philosophy would apply to the state of Washington by efficiently spending the taxpayers’ money and being prepared for hardship times by having a fully funded rainy day fund.”

King County Elections will post the next round of results by 4 p.m. on Nov. 10.

General elections results will be certified on Nov. 29.
