Renton and the region will turn shades of blue Friday in the send-off of the Seattle Seahawks, who will play the Washington Redskins Sunday in an NFL playoff game.
Seattle landmarks are going blue this week, including the CenturyLink Field arches, Seattle Great Wheel on the waterfront and the Pacific Science Center arches. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has declared Friday as Blue Friday.
“Blue Friday” activities include the following:
• Sea Gals and Blitz will make a special appearance at 8 a.m. at the Renton Landing Top Pot, 815 N. 10th St., No. F. Top Pot Doughnuts and Coffee will offer its “Seahawks-themed doughnut” for 99 cents at all store locations Friday through Sunday.
• 2-3 p.m.: A 25-foot by 30-foot Seahawks “12” flag will fly along I-405 between Bellevue and SeaTac.
• 2:30 p.m.: To help send the team off to Washington D.C., Seahawks fans can line South 188th Street in SeaTac near Valley Ridge Park, 4644 S. 188th St., SeaTac.
• Fans will line the I-405 overpasses through downtown Renton. The team buses will leave the Seahawks headquarters in north Renton at about 2:30 p.m.
