You look a little stressed out, Renton.
At least, that’s what the website Credit Donkey says, ranking our fair city as the sixth most-stressed city in the state of Washington.
The most-stressed city, according to the site, is Bremerton, which has a high crime rate, low household income and high cost of housing.
But according to the site, which bills itself as a credit card comparison site, what really adds to our stress here in Renton is not the crime or the rent, but the traffic.
To come up with their list, Credit Donkey used five criteria: odds of being a victim of violent crime; commute time; average work hours per week, percentage of divorcees and percentage of income spent on housing.
According to their results, the odds of being a victim of violent crime are a “relatively low” 1 in 331 inhabitants, while rent in the city is “quite low” with residents spending an average of 25.4 percent on housing.
But we in Renton spend an average of 28.8 minutes commuting to work in the morning, upping our stress levels.
According to the site, the top 10 most stressed cities in Washington are:
10. Burien
9. Federal Way
8. Auburn
7. Lake Stevens
6. Renton
5. Marysville
4. Tacoma
