A fire engulfed a Lexus and spread into a law building at 135 Park Ave. N. Tuesday night.
The two-alarm fire was put out at 10:38 p.m., about 20 minutes after firefighters with Renton Fire and Emergency Services Department arrived on the scene, said Lisa Garvich, a fire department spokeswoman.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A specially trained K9 unit was called in because of the circumstances surrounding the fire’s origins, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported.
Damages was estimated at about $130,000 to the structure and vehicle and $12,000 to contents, according to the fire department.
Investigators were at the scene Wednesday morning.
The car was parked in a carport beneath the building’s second story.
When firefighters arrived, they saw the car engulfed in flames and fire climbing up the side of the building, said Garvich. The fire spread into the building’s interior.
The fire was upgraded to a commercial second alarm, with fire units responding from Skyway, Kent, Tukwila and Maple Valley. King County Medic 5, SeaTac Fire Rehab 1 and a special mobile air unit provided assistance.
The three-story structure houses a law firm and mortgage company and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
