A two-alarm fire at an auto-body shop near downtown Renton late Friday afternoon damaged a car inside, but those inside escaped, according to the Renton Deputy Fire Chief Bill Flora.
Fire crews were dispatched to the commercial fire at about 4:20 p.m. Friday. The call was upgraded to a second alarm because of a visible “thermal column,” according to Flora. Those units were recalled within seven minutes.
The car inside the facility “was well-involved,” when crews arrived, according to Flora. The fire was extinguished in 3:21 minutes after the first unit arrived.
A fire investigator at the scene will determine the fire’s cause. Renton Police officers assisted with traffic control
