The City of Renton’s Fire and Emergency Services Department will commemorate 105 years of service with an evening of celebration on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Spirit of Washington Event Center in downtown Renton.
As part of the festivities, the City of Renton, in collaboration with the Firefighters Local 864, will host the 2008 FireBall, an evening of dinner and dancing.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a reception that includes a historical display and an opportunity to learn more about the history of the city’s emergency services. The department was formed in 1903 with a group of 60 citizen volunteers. Currently 145 career firefighters and 19 civilian staff members serve the City of Renton as well as Fire Districts 25 and 40.
Tickets for the event are $60 per person and can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling Kelly Carey at 425-430-7053. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Memorial Aid Car Fund, which was established in the early 1970’s for the purchase of aid supplies, AEDs, and other aid equipment to assist the Renton Fire and Emergency Services Department in better serving the community.
