A fundraiser in memory of Allison Midori Leedy, who was killed April 12 at her Renton apartment, is planned for Friday in Tacoma.

The “Show and Shine” fundraiser at 6 p.m. at Rock the Dock in Tacoma will raise awareness of domestic violence.

Her boyfriend, 20-year-old Gabriel Galan Navarro of Renton, was charged April 15 with first-degree murder, domestic violence. He’s being held on $2 million bail at Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.

Allison’s uncle, Marcus Williams, and the Miss Behavin’ Car Club are hosting the memorial event at Rock the Dock, 535 Dock St., Tacoma.

“Allison’s smile, love, and strength brought joy to everyone she encountered in life.  Domestic violence is an ever growing problem in this country and has unfortunately taken the life of my beautiful niece. I hope that people will come out to show their support and to help raise awareness of the terrible tragedy of domestic violence,” Williams said.

Allison, a barista at a Starbucks in the Factoria Target store, went to Franklin High School in Stockton, Calif.

Community members are encouraged to bring their cars, trucks, and bikes to display at the event.  Allison’s family will be asking for a $10 donation per vehicle.  All proceeds will benefit the Allison Midori Leedy Memorial Fund to cover the cost of the memorial service.

The family will also be collecting canned food, diapers, and wipes to donate to a local shelter for survivors of domestic violence.  There will be no prizes awarded at the event.

Allison’s immediate family will attend the event but will not be speaking with the media.
