A garage fire damaged a Lakeridge home early Thursday morning, according to King County Fire District 20 (Skyway/West Hill).
The fire in the 7700 block of South Mission Drive was reported at about 3:40 a.m. by a local resident who smelled smoke and investigated, according to David Nelson, a fire district spokesman.
The resident found heavy smoke coming from the garage area, he said. A second alarm was called, but the extra crews weren’t needed because firefighters controlled the fire, he said.
Nelson said the house was originally reported as abandoned, but the house is for sale and workers were renovating the home Wednesday, he said.
The King County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the fire’s cause. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
There were no injuries to firefighters or local residents.
