The Seventh Annual South King County Latino Family Health and Safety Fair for families and individuals is Saturday (Sept. 24) in Auburn.

Free dental, blood pressure and diabetes screenings are available, in addition to free Pap tests and mammograms for women 40 to 64 years of age. The event will feature presentations in Spanish about worker rights, insurance options, breast cancer, nutrition and more.

“We’re pleased to be able to support this health fair because it provides community members with an opportunity to access the variety of resources that are available to them,” said John Robinson, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Molina Healthcare of Washington.  “I strongly encourage families to attend this event and not only have a great time, but also get the preventative care they need.”

The Health & Safety Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 1320 Auburn Way S. in Auburn. There will also be food, music, folkloric dance, raffles and activities for children and adults. Appointments are needed for a Pap test and mammogram.

“This health fair is an opportunity for communities in south King County to connect to valuable health information and services,” said Dr. David Fleming, Director and Health Officer for Public Health – Seattle & King County. “The event is important because Latinos and south King County residents are more likely to lack insurance and not have access to health care compared to others in the county.”

The South King County Latino Family Health and Safety Fair is a partnership among public and private health care providers, such as Molina Healthcare as well as local governments, hospitals, businesses and Grace Community Church. Feria anual de salud para la familia latina en el sur del Condado de King programada para el 24 de septiembre

La feria anual de salud y seguridad para la familia latina está programada para el 24 de septiembre, desde las 10 de la mañana hasta las 3 de la tarde, en Grace Community Church, ubicada en 1320 Auburn Way S en Auburn.

Muchas organizaciones se unieron para organizar este evento gratis, en el cual personas podrán recibir exámenes de diabetes, presión sanguínea y cuidado dental. Además habrá pruebas de papanicolau y mamografías para mujeres 40 a 64 años (con previa cita). Presentaciones sobre derechos del trabajador, nutrición, el cáncer del seno y más también serán parte de la feria.

“Estamos contentos de poder apoyar esta feria de salud porque provee miembros de la comunidad con la oportunidad de tener acceso a varios recursos que están disponibles para ellos”, dijo el doctor John Robinson, director médico de Molina Healthcare de Washington.  “Yo sugiero que familias asistan a este evento, no solo para pasarlo bien sino también para recibir la medicina preventiva necesaria”.

Los que asistan van a poder disfrutar de comidas, música, danza folklórica, rifas y actividades para los niños.
