The week’s wintry weather continues to keep City of Renton crews busy responding to emergency situations.
Renton schools were closed for the third day on Friday. Garbage wasn’t being picked up.
Even the responders needed help.
Public works crews helped Station 12 crews in the Highlands remove a large amount of snow that had fallen from the roof, restricting the station’s ability to respond to emergencies, according to the Facebook page of Renton Fire and Emergency Services.
The fire department responded to five times the normal call volume Thursday – 183 calls. Friday, fire crews responded to trees on fire after a power line fell.
Station 13 and 17 also were on generator power due to power outages.
However, city facilities are starting to reopen for more normal operations.
