A public hearing is scheduled to discuss changes to nine elementary school boundaries that could be implemented if Honey Dew Elementary is fully opened next year.
The school board boundary changes hearing is 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the district administration building, 300 S.W. Seventh St., Renton.
A boundary review group is revisiting elementary boundary changes offered last year.
The hearing is prior to board action to turn Honey Dew into a kindergarten-fifth grade school. Currently, Honey Dew is used to teach kindergarten students from three district elementary schools.
The new boundary changes would trigger changes to boundaries for eight other elementary schools – Bryn Mawr, Campbell Hill, Lakeridge, Hazelwood, Highlands, Kennydale, Maplewood Heights and Sierra Heights.
The boundary changes are not being considered for middle and high schools.
Action in the Legislature regarding school financing could have an impact on how Honey Dew is used.
