The huge Bargain Bash Garage Sale to raise money to support homeless mothers and children at Vision House in the Highlands begins Friday.
The garage sale is Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday at the Vision House Children’s Village Child Care Center, 450 Bremerton Ave. N.E.
For the past year, more than 150 volunteers have been collecting, cleaning and sorting donations to sell at the Vision House Bargain Bash. Sylvia Holden, volunteer Bargain Bash coordinator, has led this effort for many years.
This garage sale includes items from furniture to toys to artwork to collectibles. A popular area is Manland – an area full of tools, electronics, sporting goods and more.
Founded 20 years ago by husband and wife, John and Susan Camerer, Vision House provides housing, child care and support services to homeless mothers and children, and separately to men recovering from drug or alcohol abuse.
Residents set goals and meet weekly with a case manager in order to gain the skills and confidence to become self-sufficient and avoid homelessness, poverty and abuse in the future.
Since 1990, nearly 700 homeless children, women and men have benefited from Vision House services.
