Drivers who use southbound Interstate 405 or Talbot Road South during the overnight hours should plan for delays next week, June 5-9.
Beginning as early as 9 p.m. on Monday, June 5, Washington State Department of Transportation contractor crews working on the I-405/State Route 167 Interchange Direct Connector project will have a series of overnight closures that will affect traffic on southbound I-405 and Talbot Road South.
Monday, June 5, to the morning of Friday, June 9:
- The two right lanes of southbound I-405 between Talbot Road South and SR 167 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly.
- The southbound I-405 off-ramp to Rainier Avenue South/southbound SR 167 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly.
Wednesday, June 7, to the morning of Friday, June 9:
- Both directions of Talbot Road South between the I-405 on- and off-ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly.
These closures will allow crews to stage equipment and perform drilling work in order to build a new flyover ramp connecting the high occupancy toll lanes on SR 167 to the carpool lanes on I-405. However, this work is weather dependent and subject to change.
In the Seattle area, drivers can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app, tracking the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed and get advanced information from the Seattle Area Construction Page.
