Drivers late tonight and early Tuesday will be detoured around a full closure of northbound Interstate 5 in Tukwila.
Crews are putting up a sign bridge that will hold high-tech electronic signs that will be part of the smarter highways system on northbound I-5.
Starting at 11:30 p.m. today (Jan. 25) crews will close northbound I-5 at SR 599. The lanes will remain closed until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Two I-5 on-ramps in the area will close at 9 p.m. They include:
• Eastbound SR 518 to northbound I-5
• Interurban Avenue S to northbound I-5
Crews will detour traffic to SR 599 where they return to northbound I-5 via Boeing Access Road. Drivers should consider taking alternate routes such as I-405 or SR 99 to avoid long delays and backups.
The new sign bridges will hold overhead electronic signs alerting drivers to reduce their speed or change lanes when there are collisions or backups on the road.
