Knife robbery: At 7:54 p.m. Feb. 10 in the 300 block of Rainier Ave. S., officers were dispatched to a report of a store robbery. The robbery had occurred about 15 minutes prior, and the suspect had left the area. A customer came into the store and wanted to purchase an item, and he then disputed the charges placed on his credit card. When the employees told him it could be a few days for the credit to appear back on his account, he pulled out a knife and threatened the employees. In fear, the employees handed over cash from the till, and the suspect left. No one was injured. Based on the information provided, there is probable cause to arrest for first degree robbery, and this case has been turned over to investigations for further review.
Public drug use: At about 11:40 p.m. Feb. 10, by the Pavilion Center located off 233 Burnett Ave. S., Renton Police Department officers were doing routine area patrol downtown when they witnessed open drug use by two subjects. Suspects were detained and questioned, and officers determined they had probable cause to cite them for unlawful public dangerous drug activities. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were taken into evidence. Any further investigations will be conducted by the Special Enforcement Unit, which has been assigned this case.
Methamphetamine found on man: At 8:49 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 1400 block of South Puget Drive, an officer was conducting patrol when he observed a suspicious vehicle that was idling outside a gate to an apartment complex. The officer ran the plate on the vehicle, then ran the registered owner’s name of the vehicle, which returned with two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The suspect was then contacted and detained until warrants were confirmed. Once warrants were confirmed, the suspect was searched, and the officer found methamphetamine on his person, which was later tested and confirmed. The suspect was booked into SCORE jail on drug charges.
Spitting at a security guard: At 2:32 p.m. Feb. 16 in the 300 block of Renton Center Way, officers were dispatched to a call about threats. A male was on the scene threatening to kill people and security. The officer arrived while the suspect was still on the scene. The suspect was trespassed for one year from the store. Just over an hour later, the suspect returned to the same location and got into an altercation with security when asked to leave and spit at the employee. The suspect was arrested for second-degree trespassing and fourth-degree assault, and then booked into SCORE Jail.
