The Lindbergh High School Robotics Team, The Talon, captured the prestigious Chairman’s Award at the FIRST Robotics Competition last weekend and, with community support, the team hopes to continue to the Pacific Northwest Regional Championships this April.

After two successful days of competing, the team finished sixth out of 36 teams, after qualification rounds. It was The Talon’s second appearance at the district competition. The Chairman Award qualifies the entire team to compete April 1 to 4 in the PNW Regional Championships, at Eastern Washington University.

It’s the team’s fourth time in five years qualifying for the meet. The team is in need of funds to go to the competition. They are short by $3,000 for their travel and lodging expenses and need additional funds to keep competing in meets this year.

Lindbergh is currently ranked 32nd of 152 teams in the Pacific Northwest. The team stands a very good chance of also qualifying for the St. Louis World Championships, April 22 to 25, according to a school press release.

The team is looking for community support to be able to attend both competitions. To donate to The Talon, visit the team’s website at http://staff.rentonschools.us/lhs/first/donate.
