A 54-year-old Renton man was bitten on the leg by a pit bull dog June 16.

The dog had been reported running loose on North Third Street, dragging a chain. The dog charged the patrol car of an officer as he pulled in front of the residence.

The officer warned the Renton man, who was taking out the garbage, to go back inside his home. But the dog charged him and bit him on the leg.

Another officer arrived with “catch poles.” The dog grabbed the cables and shook his head back and forth. An animal-control officer was then called.

In the meantime the resident returned home and secured the dog inside. He told the officer that the injured man must have been “messing” with his dog.

The injured man was advised to get medical treatment. The dog was taken away in the animal-control truck.
