A 41-year-old man died in Maple Valley near Renton on June 4 in a homicide incident.
According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Jesse Lee Kandel, 41, died as a result of multiple sharp force injuries on June 4 in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 22400 block of Southeast 240th Street in Maple Valley.
Kandel received the injuries in an incident near one of the buildings of the apartment complex, according to the medical examiner’s office. Medical examiners identified Kandel’s death as a homicide.
Both the King County Sheriff’s Office and Maple Valley Police Department responded to the incident.
According to Eric White, public information officer for the King County Sheriff’s Office, the King County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center received a call at approximately 11:35 p.m. regarding gunshots heard in the area.
King County Sheriff’s Office major crimes detectives responded to the location, in addition to Maple Valley police officers and King County Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to White.
Upon arrival, law enforcement located a male victim, with first responders attempting to perform life-saving measures.
The identity and age of the man, later identified via the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as Kandel, were not immediately known, according to White.
First responders pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
White declined to comment further regarding the incident as a result of the investigation remaining “active and open,” as of June 10.
