Threatened with a gun
Renton police officers were dispatched on Oct. 15 at approximately 7:53 p.m. to the 500 block of Southwest 5th Place for reports of threats with a weapon. Dispatch relayed to officers that a man pulled firearm on two victims at their home, according to the department. The suspect fled in a vehicle prior to the arrival of the officers.
As the responding officer was en route to the scene, the described suspect vehicle drove past the officer at a high rate of speed southbound toward Southwest 7th Street. By the time the officer was turned around, the suspect vehicle was gone, according to the department.
According to the department, victims advised officers that they arrived home, parked in their driveway and entered their residence when their dog began barking outside. They observed an unknown man walk out of their backyard and a verbal dispute between the parties began. The suspect pulled a firearm out of his jacket and made threats to shoot them. The suspect then ran to a nearby vehicle and fled the scene. One of the victims thought she may have recognized the suspect vehicle from a shooting that happened approximately three weeks ago near an apartment complex. She didn’t recognize the suspect, but said she would be able to identify him if she saw him again.
Vehicular assault
Officers were dispatched on Oct. 14 at approximately 10:48 p.m. to an injury collision in the 1800 block of Edmonds Way Southeast. Callers reported a single vehicle with multiple subjects inside having struck a power pole. Witnesses on the scene advised dispatch that all occupants of the vehicle, including children, were fleeing the scene on foot.
When officers arrived, they located the damaged vehicle and observed blood in the back of the vehicle near a toddler booster seat. There were also several empty alcohol containers inside the vehicle, according to the department.
Officers tracked the occupants of the vehicle to Valley Medical Center, who advised a 5-year-old patient had arrived with their grandmother who told them the child had been in a vehicle accident. Officers arrived at Valley Medical Center and contacted the occupants. They observed a young child with facial injuries requiring treatment and spoke with the grandmother who advised her daughter had called telling her they were in a vehicle accident and needed a ride to the hospital.
All occupants involved in the vehicle accident were now sitting in the hospital parking lot, according to the department. Officers contacted and detained the driver, a man, who was positively identified by an on-scene witness. Officers observed indications that the man might have possibly been under the influence, and noticed blood stains on his clothing, according to the department. The man declined to provide a statement. Law enforcement completed a blood draw from the man and booked him for vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run.
Domestic violence assault
Renton police officers were dispatched on Oct. 10 at approximately 8:11 a.m. to an assault in progress in the 1600 block of 123rd Avenue Southeast. Dispatch reported that two family members were in a physical altercation and that the suspect had left the scene prior to the arrival of officers, according to the department. Based on the severe injuries seen on the assault victim, police established probable cause for assault in the second degree. Charging paperwork has been forwarded to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, according to the department.
Assault in the park
Renton police officers were dispatched on Oct. 11 at approximately 1:30 p.m. to an assault that had occurred the day prior at Highlands Park, located at 800 Edmonds Avenue Northeast. According to the department, the reporting party advised her juvenile son was currently hospitalized due to injuries he suffered during an assault. The victim suffered a concussion and fractured nose, according to the department.
The victim told officers he was sitting in the park when several men with masks approached him and started shouting at him prior to assaulting him, according to the department. Bystanders intervened and the victim walked to a nearby fire station, where personnel then transported him to the hospital. The victim advised he did not recognize the suspects and could not describe them.
