Man shot multiple times in home invasion east of Fairwood

UPDATE, MARCH 4: The suspects in this case remain at large.

A 27-year-old man was shot multiple times early Friday morning by three men who broke into his rural home east of Fairwood.

The man was in surgery Friday morning at Harborview Medical Center, with injuries that apparently aren’t life-threatening, said Deputy Travis DeFries, a spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, a white male, was shot with unknown-caliber handguns, DeFries said. It’s not yet known whether all three men fired on the victim.

The three suspects, all black males, forced their way into the home in the 17600 block of 196th Avenue Southeast near Spring Lake at about 1 a.m. They fled without taking anything.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. They were described as being in their 20s and all were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspects’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 or 206-296-3311.

Investigators still don’t have a motive for the home invasion.

“This isn’t a random thing,” DeFries said.

Investigators have spoken to a woman who was in the mobile home, who told investigators she didn’t know the three men, DeFries said.

Investigators are waiting to talk to the victim.

“We want to see how much he wants to cooperate,” DeFries said.

Medics were able to treat the victim immediately and the home was secured.

However, the actual investigation by detectives didn’t begin until a search warrant was obtained. A pitbull stood guard at the front door, so detectives couldn’t get inside until an animal-control officer arrived to remove the dog.

Detectives finally entered the home at about 7:30 a.m.
