With speakers and songs, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Baptist Church in Renton will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 5 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 16).
The celebration will take place at the church, 4519 N.E. 10th St. The theme of this year’s presentation will be “What Are You Doing For Others?” Dignitaries Judge Leroy McCullough and Evergreen State College – Tacoma founder Dr. Maxine Mimms will give the keynote address.
There will be musical selections from the MLK choir, invited guests, the Orion Chorale Group and Toyin Adekale, who is originally from London.
“We are a church who shares and lives the dream each day through the MLK ministries that reach beyond the four walls of the church,” said Pastor Herbert Carey in a press release. “Our MLK Church family is culturally diverse and focuses year round on doing something for others.”
This year would have marked King’s 82nd birthday. There will be vendors, refreshments and reflections on the life and legacy of King during the afternoon.
