The Mount Si and Little Si trailheads and trails near North Bend will remain closed through Tuesday, Feb. 28, while crews work to remove the wreckage of the single-engine airplane that crashed Feb. 15, killing the three people on board.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources manages the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area, where the crash occurred.
Mount Si NRCA is a popular recreation area along the I-90 corridor.
“We know this closure affects a lot of people’s weekend plans, and we appreciate everyone’s patience,” said Doug McClelland, assistant region manager for DNR’s South Puget Sound Region. “For public safety reasons, DNR is keeping the area closed through the weekend to give the contractor and crews from Seattle Mountain Rescue clear access to the site.”
