No one was injured, but an attached garage was destroyed by fire Thursday night in Skyway.
King County Fire District 20 along with Tukwila and Renton Fire units responded to the home in the 7000 block of South 116th Street at 5:36 p.m.
On arrival, Skyway Engine 22 found a fully involved attached garage fire. Firefighters made a quick attack from the exterior.
“With additional units coming from our surrounding agencies, we were able to give crews rest due to the temperature,” Dave Nelson, spokesperson for KCFD 20, said in a press release. “Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to nearby brush and stop additional damage to the house.”
The King County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Unit determined the cause of the fire to be electrical with damage estimated at $25,000. There were no injuries reported. The occupants, and including their animals, are staying with friends.
A total of 33 fire personnel responded to the call including five engines, two ladder trucks, six command staff, two medical units, one rehab unit and an air unit.
