Staff from the Renton History Museum and Northwest Railway Museum and various community members gathered at the Renton museum last Thursday evening to welcome home Renton’s refurbished wood coal-mining car. The car, which hauled coal in Black Diamond mines from about 1915 on, underwent seven months of reconstruction at Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie before returning to the museum early this month. The much-needed makeover was funded by a $6,500 grant from 4Culture Heritage Special Projects, funded by the King County lodging tax.
