The following information was compiled based on City of Renton Police reports.
Police discovered nine vehicles with broken windows and damage at the park-n-ride at 255 Hardie Ave. S.W. on Dec. 18.
The damage happened sometime between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. It appeared large rocks from a nearby retaining wall were used to smash the windows. The vehicles were rummaged through with items strewn about inside. All the doors were locked.
Police were able to get fingerprints from the vehicles.
Drunken brawl ends in assault against mother, child
A 49-year-old Renton man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife and 14-month-old son on Dec. 23.
The man was apparently intoxicated and tried to kick his wife and son out of the house sometime around 9 p.m., according to the wife. He began throwing things and breaking items. At one point, he threw a large pair of scissors against the wall and told his wife that would be her the next time. The scissors stuck out of a wall in the house. The man hit the woman with a toy and punched her with a fist. The second punch glanced off her head and hit the baby, whom she held the entire time.
The man was booked into jail for fourth-degree assault.
Fight erupts over child’s behavior
A couple waiting in the Department of Social and Health Services office in Renton at about noon Dec. 17 got into an argument with a couple of women over a child’s behavior.
When officers arrived, they interviewed a 62-year-old man. He told them that women he was with got into a confrontation with another couple of ladies about a child. Apparently the 46-year-old woman he was with mistook the child in the lobby as belonging to the women. The 46-year-old told one of the women she needed to control her child’s behavior.
Supposedly the child was being loud and obnoxious. One of the women, a 25-year-old, told the other woman the child was not hers.
The two women got to their feet and the man stepped in, pushing the 25-year-old. She in turn swung at the man, punching him in the face.
No one needed medical attention and after police intervention, all parties agreed to not pursue anything further against each other.
