Drivers who plan to use portions of Interstate 405 through Bellevue, Kirkland, and Bothell on Friday and Saturday nights should prepare for delays or use alternate routes.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close up to four lanes of northbound I-405 from Northeast Eighth Street in downtown Bellevue to Northeast 70th Place in Kirkland.  In addition, they will close up to four lanes of southbound I-405 from SR 522 to Northeast 124th Street.  One lane of northbound and southbound I-405 will remain open during this work. Crews will also close several ramps in these areas.

The northbound closures are needed to extend the express toll lane access point near SR 520 and to extend the SR 520 on-ramp to northbound I-405. These improvements are designed to help relieve traffic congestion in these areas. The southbound closures are needed to refresh striping for increased visibility. This work is part of the  I-405 Bellevue to Lynnwood Widening and Express Toll Lanes project.

Friday, March 18 to the morning of Saturday, March 19

Northbound closures

• Up to four right lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast Eighth Street and Northeast 70th Place will close from 8 p.m. Friday to 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

• The Southeast 8th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 will close from 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

• The Northeast 8th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 will close from 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

• The eastbound and westbound SR 520 ramps to northbound I-405 will close from 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Southbound closures

• Up to four right lanes of southbound I-405 from SR 522 to Northeast 124th Street will close from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

• The southbound I-405 ramp to eastbound SR 522 will close from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

• The SR 522 ramps to southbound I-405 will close from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

The southbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 160th Street will close from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

• The Northeast 160th Street on-ramp to southbound I-405 will close from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Saturday, March 19 to the morning of Sunday, March 20

• Up to three left lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast Eighth Street and Northeast 70th Place will close from 8 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.
