Issaquah man arrested for assault

An Issaquah man was booked into Renton Municipal Jail on May 18 for investigation of second-degree assault after he apparently twice hit a motorcycle with his truck, according to Renton police.

The incident occurred at about 12:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of Northeast Park Drive near Interstate 405. The victim, who was riding a Suzuki motorcycle, lives in Auburn.

The victim told police he was westbound on Northeast Park Drive, when he moved in front of the suspect’s truck. He was unaware his lane had become a left-hand turn lane, due to construction, according to police, and he felt he had plenty of room to make the lane switch.

However, the driver of the truck yelled at him and words were exchanged.

The victim told police the suspect moved his truck forward and hit the motorcycle, causing him to lose his balance so that he could no longer control his motorcycle. The victim dropped the motorcycle onto its left side and he had to jump off of it to not be injured, he told police.

The suspect told police that the Auburn man yelled something at him as they were driving down the hill. He told police the motorcycle cut in front of him. The suspect denied hitting the motorcycle. However, eyewitnesses told officers that the truck had hit the motorcycle, including a second time when the motorcycle was knocked over.

There were scratches on the truck’s bumper, according to police.

The suspect asked for an attorney and officers didn’t ask further questions. His truck, a Ford F100 pickup, was impounded. A gun, .38 special, was entered into evidence.

Electronics, clothing

A Renton man reported to police that sometime late on June 16 or early June 17 someone stole electronics and clothing from his car’s trunk parked in the 1600 block of Index Avenue Southeast.

There was no damage to the vehicle and the victim is the only one with the keys to the vehicle, according to police. The loss was estimated at more than $200.

The stolen items included a cell-phone charger, portable DVD player, dress shirts and an Apple i-Pod.

Tacoma woman

arrested for theft

A Tacoma woman was arrested June 18 for felony investigation of theft for allegedly stealing jeans from the Fred Meyer store on the Benson Highway, according to Renton police.

A store security officer had watched as a man placed a shopping cart next to a rack of jeans, before leaving the store. He returned with the suspect, who was seen placing jeans in the cart, according to police.

The man and woman left the store with the cart. She was contacted by store employees, but the man continued walking through the parking lot.

She admitted to police that she took the jeans. The man handed her the jeans and she put them in an empty box, she told police. Initially, she told police she had refused to go inside the store with the man. She only knew him by a first name, “Walter.”

She was booked into jail.
