POLICE BLOTTER: Bullets strike cars, apartments

The following information was compiled based on City of Renton Police reports. Gun shots rang out in the 600 block of Southwest Fifth Court hitting nearby cars and an apartment building on May 26. Police were called to the area for a reported five to seven gun shots heard after 11:30 p.m

Gun shots rang out in the 600 block of Southwest Fifth Court hitting nearby cars and an apartment building on May 26.

Police were called to the area for a reported five to seven gun shots heard after 11:30 p.m.

Police discovered eight .40 caliber bullet casings in the middle of the street. Two vehicles were hit with bullets on Southwest Fifth Court.

A witness told police they were standing on their apartment patio when bullets shot past them and through the apartment walls. The bullets went through a bedroom wall, where people were in bed. No one was injured.

Another witness saw two males running east on Southwest Fifth Court; they got into a maroon car and drove north on Stevens Avenue Southwest.

The men were wearing  dark hooded sweatshirts. The bullet casings were placed into evidence.

 

Man, officer tussle

A Renton man tussled with a police officer and was arrested for obstructing a public servant on May 25.

Police were called a little after 4 p.m. to a Walgreens, 3011 N.E. Sunset Blvd., because a man was unwanted on the premises. He was approaching customers and asking for money.

A police officer arrived and saw the man follow a woman to her car, attempting to get her attention. When the man saw the officer, he tried to leave. The officer confronted the man. He appeared to follow orders but then attempted to leave again. This time he tried to punch the officer and pulled free and ran away.

He was later located behind the Goodwill store in the 3800 block of Northeast Sunset Boulevard. He was trespassed from Walgreens and taken into custody.

 

Verbally abusive

A patient became verbally abusive after she was denied Vicodin by her doctor on May 30.

The 38-year-old woman was treated by a doctor for an injury she suffered after punching a wall. She was prescribed a two-day supply of the drug for her injury.

The woman went to the hospital and attempted to get more and was denied. So, she requested her doctor be paged. When the doctor returned the call, she requested more medication. He told her no more medication was necessary and she cussed him out and made vague threats.


Intoxicated man

An intoxicated Renton man was arrested for unruly behavior and harassing a woman on May 30.

The 29-year-old was reportedly walking into the street, staggering, running into people’s yards and jumping on vehicles.

Police were called around 3 p.m. to the intersection of North Fourth and Marion Streets. The man had climbed into a dumpster.

Police got him to come out and released him into the custody of a woman and left.

Police returned to the scene five minutes later, because the man was inside a residence breaking items. Police were told the 29-year-old threw a knife at the woman and threatened to kill her. He yelled numerous threats at police and was arrested for investigation of felony harassment and malicious mischief.

 

Ex-boyfriend angy

An angry ex-boyfriend threatened his ex-girlfriend and then stole her dog on May 30.

The 28-year-old woman, who lives in the 300 block of Vuemont Place Northeast, called police to report that her ex-boyfriend was trying to break down her door. The two had been in a verbal argument that day over the phone and he threatened to kill her, she said.

Police arrived at 6:20 p.m. and the woman no longer heard the 38-year-old man outside her door. There were several dents and scuffs on the door in addition to a key that was broken off in the lock.

She broke up about a month ago with the man and they have a history of domestic violence. The woman said the man left when he heard her talking to police on the phone. He left in a green Honda Civic.

The woman called police back just after 10 p.m. to say the man came back to her residence and left with her dog.

 

Boy hits mom

A 17-year-old Renton boy hit his mother on May 26.

The two were arguing as she drove him home from high school just before 3:30 p.m. He used profane language toward her and she asked him to leave. He refused and told her if he went in the house, he would start breaking things. The boy hit her in the face, which caused some pain.

The mother went to call her husband, but the boy grabbed the phone and threw it. He left and she called the police.

Police arrested the teen for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
