The following information was compiled based on City of Renton police reports.

A confrontation in a Renton liquor store turned violent on May 20.

A man threatened another man with a gun in the liquor store at 465 Renton Center Way after 8:30 p.m.

The two men got into an argument, which was witnessed by the store security officer. After the suspect pointed the gun at the other man, he tucked it into his front waistband and ran west from the store. The man with the revolver is described as a black male, about 5-foot-9 and approximately 170 pounds. He was believed to be in his 30s, bald and wearing blue jeans and a yellow pin-stripped shirt. The other man was said to have left the store in a black Honda Civic.

Gunfire on Talbot

Gun fire errupted in the 19200 block of Talbot Road South on May 21.

A witness heard six gunshots and a vehicle speeding off north on Talbot Road at about 1:20 a.m. Police responded two minutes later.

One police officer saw several vehicles coming from the direction of Talbot Road, but they didn’t have suspect vehicle information.

Police found six .45 caliber shell casings scattered throughout the roadway in both the north and south lanes of travel.

A check of the area was done for suspects and victims, but no one was found.

Vehicle shot

A Renton man’s vehicle was shot at possibly for his political views on May 21.

The 29-year-old man parked his vehicle in the 1800 block of Northeast 27th Street at about 2 a.m. He returned to his vehicle at noon and noticed someone had fired a bullet through the back window. The bullet hole was between two window stickers. One read, “Go Army” and the other “Republican.”

It wasn’t known if the suspect was shooting at one of the window stickers. The man had no idea who would damage his vehicle.

Toy gun waved

A toy gun was mistaken for a semi-automatic pistol on May 21.

A witness reported to police that she saw a boy riding his bike and pointing a gun at other boys who were also riding bikes. This incident occurred at about 3 p.m. in the 17600 block of 118th Avenue Southeast off of Petrovitsky Road.

A police officer arrived and drawing his gun confronted the boys, who ranged in age from 10 to 16 years old. They were restrained and the gun was removed. It was a black plastic toy gun that possibly fired Nerf projectiles.

The toy was photographed and given back to the boys, who were also released.

Man confronts teens

A Renton resident was detained by police for his actions confronting unruly teens at the Renton Transit Center on May 23.

Police were called to a report of teenagers sitting on the ground at the former Big 5 Sporting Goods and someone daring them to move. Police arrived at around 7 p.m. and found no one in that location. However, when they checked the transit center, they heard a commotion.

A 39-year-old man was yelling and swinging an aluminum baseball bat. An officer drew his weapon and ordered the man to put down his bat. The man complied with his orders.

He later told police he was frustrated with the lack of respect that the juveniles that hang around the transit center show others. The man observed the youth smoking marijuana and talking loudly near the man’s apartment close to the area. He decided to grab his baseball bat and take matters into his own hands.

Police advised him to call 911 instead and released him.
