The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.
Mysterious gunfire erupted in the area of North Third Street and Meadow Avenue North on Oct. 26.
At about 6:33 p.m., residents reported the sound of multiple gun shots, up to about 10, possibly from the alleyway between Garden Avenue North and Meadow Avenue North. No victims were found in the area, but police discovered nine shell casings in the alleyway. Police have no suspect information for this incident.
At 8:48 p.m., while police were investigating a burglary in the 1500 block of North Brooks Street, they heard several gunshots from the area of North Third Street and Garden Avenue or Meadow Avenue North. A check of the area produced no suspects, victims or evidence.
Breakup turns violent
A breakup turned violent as a Renton couple were involved in a domestic dispute at 11100 Southeast Petrovitsky Road in Renton on Oct. 25.
Around 9 p.m., the 25-year-old woman sat in the car with the 24-year-old man arguing about the status of their relationship, which she was ending. He became angry and demanded she take him home, but she refused. He then grabbed the keys from the ignition, causing the key to break free from the chain. Then he grabbed the front of her dress and pulled her across the center console, breaking the console cup holder, and out the passenger door until she fell onto the concrete.
She told police she feared he would beat her up. Instead, he walked away north on Southeast Petrovitsky Road; she followed him for a short distance as she called 911. She told police she was not injured and showed no visible injuries.
The male suspect was found walking in the 12600 block of Southeast Petrovitsky Road. He told police she grabbed his hood when he took the key from the ignition and said he was defending himself when he pushed her off of him. Police noted no marks on his neck and he was arrested for fourth-degree assault and booked into jail.
Man arrested for DUI
A 38-year-old Renton man was arrested for driving under the influence at the corner of Whitworth and South 26th Street on Oct. 25.
At 11:20 p.m., a witness observed the man swerving in lanes, hitting curbs and almost hitting a pole. Officers caught up to the man, who refused to stop at first at 11:22 p.m. The suspect was driving 20 mph for 1.2 miles, stopping intermittently. When he was questioned, he made unintelligible statements; he smelled of alcohol. He couldn’t stand on his own or sit on the patrol car, nor could he perform any sobriety tests. When he was put in handcuffs, he began to yell, “My car.” Refusing to get in the back of the patrol car he yelled repeatedly, “I pee, I pee.” At the jail, he was taken to the restroom; he refused to take a breath test. He was booked for DUI.
Man held on warrants
Renton man with outstanding Kent warrants was arrested in a domestic violence dispute on Oct. 23.
On the previous night, the 25-year-old man attempted to leave home with his girlfriend’s car keys and her debit card. Because she believed he was high on marijuana and had a suspended license, she did not want him driving her car. They argued.
During the altercation, he grabbed her by the neck and left shoulder and shoved her into her son’s bedroom. After trapping her in the bedroom for a minute, the man fled the apartment in the woman’s car.
Renton Police apprehended him the following morning at 8:52 a.m., as he was talking with his 28-year-old girlfriend in the home’s doorway.
He was booked into jail on fourth-degree assault charges.
