POLICE BLOTTER: Three rob Pawn Exchange in Renton

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.

Police investigated an armed robbery of the Pawn Exchange, 415 Rainier Ave. N., at about 7 p.m. March 18.

Three suspects entered the store with guns and ordered the three employees inside to not say a word and face the wall.

The employees heard loud blasts from the jewelry display area. A hammer was used to break the display case. They took jewelry from the case.

The suspects told the employees they weren’t afraid to shoot them.

Once the suspects left, an employee pulled the panic alarm, locked up the store and called 911. One woman inside the store had managed to escape undetected and run to the U-Haul store, where she called 911.

The suspects are described as black males. Two carried handguns and one brought a large hammer.

One is 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-7, with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing dark shoes, black jeans, black hooded sweatshirt, white gloves and a black baseball cap with a purple bill. The hat had the letters “C” and “R” on it, possibly for the Colorado Rockies.

The second suspect is 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2, with a medium build. He wore white shoes, dark pants, black hooded sweatshirt and a dark bandana over his face.

The third suspect is 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2, with a medium build. He was wearing black shoes, black pants, black sweatshirt with a white T-shirt underneath, brown gloves and a black face mask.

A K9 unit did a search; it’s believed the suspects fled in a vehicle parked south of the entrance.

 

Girl nearly abducted on way to school

A 13-year-old girl was almost abducted while walking to school on the north side of Southeast 192nd before 9 a.m. on March 14.

The girl told police she was on her way to Meeker Middle School, when a white van with tinted windows pulled up and a man got out of the sliding door. He tried to pull her in the van, but she escaped kicking him in the shin.

The man is described as being of unknown race, with black hair and beard and a white heavy jacket. The license plate had duct tape over it the girl reported.

 

Police find gun on teen who had a beer

A 17-year-old Renton boy was stopped near Liberty Park on suspicion of having a gun March 17.

Another boy called police because he said the suspect tried to sell him a handgun. Police confronted the suspect and another boy with him. They determined the suspect was trying to sell an airsoft pistol he had been given.

Police smelled intoxicants on the suspect. He said he had just one beer that day.

Both suspects were trespassed from Liberty Park for one year. The pistol was collected as evidence and a copy of the report was to be forwarded to the King County juvenile prosecutor.

 

Traffic confrontation may have involved a gun

Police investigated an incident involving a gun on March 17 in the area of Northeast Ninth Street and Pierce Avenue Northeast.

A 41-year-old man, who appeared intoxicated to police, followed a van that was driving fast, according to him. He confronted the van’s driver after he pulled into his home’s driveway.

The 41-year-old told the man about his poor driving; the suspect told him to get off his property. There are conflicting reports about what happened next.

The 41-year-old said the suspect pointed a gun at his head. The 34-year-old suspect and female partner told police he only mentioned he had a gun because they feared for their safety. The 34-year-old did have a handgun and a license for it.

The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
