At 1:17 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, Renton police officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting near Northeast 12th Street and Duvall Avenue in the Highlands.
An adult man told police that at least two teenagers in an unidentified red vehicle shot at and struck his SUV. Though the man was not injured, police asked the nearby Hazen High School to briefly lock its exterior doors and to keep students and staff inside.
“Our perimeter doors are already locked, so the school locked the front door and secured the breezeway,” said Renton School District Community Relations Executive Director Randy Matheson. Matheson said this only lasted a few minutes and that neither classes nor after-school activities were disrupted.
This is an open investigation and this story will be updated as needed.
