Break-in: At 4:29 a.m. March 10 in the 200 block of Wells Avenue South, officers responded to an alarm. The front door of the building had a fist-size hole in the glass, which was shattered. According to an employee, the suspect made entry into the business, but nothing was stolen.
Group smoking drugs: At 1:53 a.m. March 11 in the 200 block of Burnett Ave., an officer on routine patrol noticed a group of people in the area. One person took out a pipe and smoked from it. Another approached the group and also smoked from a pipe. Based on his training and experience, the officer suspected they were smoking illegal drugs. He approached the group and arrested one of the suspects. The other was arrested by responding officers. Both were booked into jail.
Public urination starts fight: At 2:45 p.m. March 11 in the 700 block of Rainier Avenue South, officers were dispatched to a dispute between two males. The victim stated he saw the suspect urinating in the parking lot and told the suspect to stop. The victim went inside the store to let security know, and that’s when he says the suspect kicked the mirror off his vehicle, then ran up to him and kicked him in the back of the leg. The suspect was arrested and booked on investigation of fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief.
Domestic violence assault: At 6:59 p.m. March 13 officers responded to a domestic report. The victim reported that her boyfriend physically assaulted her. The officer saw visible injuries and developed probable cause for felony domestic violence assault on the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
Pistol-whipping: At 12:01 a.m. March 15 in the 4000 block of Northeast 4th Street, officers responded to an aid call where a male was bleeding from the head. When officers arrived, they learned the victim had been assaulted, and he then ran for help to where officers responded. He stated he had just met the two men who assaulted him, one pistol-whipping him, after he declined to drive them to a separate location. The investigation is ongoing.
