Wednesday, Sept. 30, marks the beginning of another school year for Renton School District. Nearly 16,000 students will be returning to school this week. RSD is warning drivers to be more attentive in school zones and around bus stops.
“Drivers in school zones and around school bus stops are reminded to please watch for children as they walk to school and bus stops. Sometimes a driver’s attentiveness can be lifesaving,” reads a RSD press release.
The speed limit in school zones when students are present and/or yellow beacon lights are flashing is 20 mph. Tickets for speeding violations range between $124 to $250.
